A huge success with teachers, Hachette Education publishes works for classroom and home use, from pre-school to university. Its list includes leading authors and titles: Littré, Malet-Isaac, Gaffiot, Bled, Passeport and Apple Pie. It also publishes videos, CD-ROMs and websites to accompany a wide range of textbooks. The publisher sells textbooks throughout the French-speaking world and is one of the leading publishers of educational materials for pre-schools and schools.

Hachette Français Langue Étrangère (FLE) publishes language-learning methods, teaching materials and books for teaching French to non-French speakers.

Istra covers all primary school subjects. It has created a new kind of educational series with the Multilivre textbook which brings together three subjects – science, history and geography – in a single book.

Founded by Alexandre Hatier, Editions Hatier published the first Bescherelle in 1900 and has now become one of the top French publishers of educational books, covering everything from pre-school to high school. It is a leader in the extracurricular market with the Annabac, Tout savoir, Chouette, Prépabac collections. In recent years, Hatier has established a name for itself in Children’s and YA books thanks to innovative collections such as Tout Mousse, Hatier Poche and others. A large part of its business is from export, especially to French-speaking markets (Canada, Morocco, Switzerland, etc.).

At the end of the nineteenth century, Henri Didier opened a bookshop right across from the Sorbonne. Since then, it has become a respected modern language publisher (English, German, Spanish, French as a foreign language and, more recently, Chinese). Didier also explores the opportunities offered by digital technology through its multimedia collections.

Foucher is specialised in vocational and technical education, accounting, higher education and public service and paramedical examination preparation. Very early on, Foucher developed digital training tools alongside its print catalogue.

France’s leading science and technology publisher, Dunod publishes training manuals for all types of students and professionals. A leading business and science imprint, Dunod also boasts an essential collection in humanities, particularly for psychology and social action. For the past 20 years, its scientific collection has been among the most respected by booksellers. Finally, Dunod is also a major player in the personal development and paramedical fields with its InterEditions and Ediscience imprints respectively.

Armand Colin is a leading university publisher in the field of human and social sciences. Its introductory (128, Cursus) and advanced collections (U, Lettres Sup, Perspectives géopolitiques, etc.) are complemented by materials for students in preparatory classes under the Sedes imprint, a wide range of resource books (atlases and annuals) and essays (including the Eléments de réponse and Le temps des idées collections). Armand Colin is a print-on-demand pioneer and a leader in the development of digital models.

Hachette Livre International (HLI) has a twofold aim of publishing and export. Under two imprints (Hatier International and Edicef), HLI publishes schoolbooks specifically tailored for programmes in countries where school is still taught in French, and in particular Africa and the Middle East (but not Belgium, Switzerland and Canada).

Edicef publishes and co-publishes textbooks for students in Sub-Saharan Africa, Lebanon, Vietnam and the Indian Ocean. Its catalogue covers all subjects from pre-school through to university level education.

Hatier International publishes books and teaching tools adapted to the context and needs of teachers in Africa, Northern Africa and the French overseas territories. Its catalogue has a number of books in Arabic and English.

The benchmark on the classics market in France with Les petits classiques Larousse, Larousse also guides and supports students throughout their school years thanks to a great number of supplementary study guides in French, foreign languages and philosophy. Collections like Anti-fautes, Les indispensables Larousse and Le Dictionnaire Larousse des citations philosophiques are treasured test-preparation tools.
